1. Answer the following question in about 600 words:

Describe the role of Education for National Development.

OR

What do you mean by 'wastage' and 'stagnation in education? Discuss the causes of wastage and stagnation.

2. Answer the following question in about 600 words:

Discuss the democratic principles that apply to education.

OR

Discuss the salient features of National Policy on Education, 1986 in relation to (a) Universalisation of Elementary Education (b) Secondary Education and (c) Teacher Education.

3. Answer any four of the following in about 150 words each:

(a) Explain the interrelationship between education and culture in Indian society.

(b) Distinguish between 'government schools' and 'government - aided schools'.

(c) What are the merits of Vocationalisation of Education?

(d) Distinguish between 'Naturalism' and 'Idealism'.

(e) 'Education is considered as an instrument for social change'. Explain.

(f) Explain the concept of 'pluralism.

4. Answer the following question in about 600 words:

What are your views about the present examination system at the school stage? As a teacher, what steps would you suggest to improve the present examination system?
