To practice basic arithmetic to enhance reasoning and computational capabilities.

Number System
Introduction to basic properties and representation in real line of natural numbers, integers, rationals, irrationals, even numbers, odd numbers and prime numbers. Sum, difference, product and division of fractions and decimal fractions and negative numbers.
Absolute value |a| of real numbers. Divisibility by 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,11. Average, LCM and HCF of numbers. Binary (diadic) numbers and conversion to decimal form and vice versa.To write big numbers in words and figures. Square number and Square root, Cube number and Cube root.
Basic Arithmetic
Percentage, Simple interest, compound interest, profit and loss.Time distance and Time-Work problems.
Algebra
Algebraic expression. Conversion of arithmetic problem to algebraic problem; sum, difference, product and division of algebraic expressions. Use of bracket and simplification. Solution of linear, quadratic and simultaneous equations and their applications. Concept of permutation and combination.
Mensuration
Calculation of perimeter area, area of triangle, quadrilateral, circle. Surface and volume of cube, cuboid, sphere, cone and cylinder.
Basic properties of angle, triangle, quadrilateral and circle, Application of Pythagorean theorem. Leam the units of measurement of length, surface, solid (cm, cm2, cm3) temperature (°C, °F), pressure etc. used in daily life.
Basic Statistics
Representation of data by figure, frequency table, graph, bar diagram, Histogram and pidiagram. Idea of mean, median and mode. Introduction to concept of probability.
