ES-334: EDUCATION AND SOCIETY

Time : 3 hours                                                                       Maximum Weightage : 70%.

Note : (i) All the four questions are compulsory.

(ii) All the questions carry equal weightage.

1.Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Explain the role and functions of community as an agency of education with suitable examples.

OR

Explain essential aspects of 'Idealism' and discuss its importance in planning and designing of curriculum.

2.Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Elaborate important features of Indian society and explain how these can be utilized for educational development.

OR

Explain various factors related to "inequality in school education" with suitable illustrations.

3. Write short notes on any four of the following in  about 150 words each.

(a) NPE - 1986 - important recommendations.

(b) Continuous and comprehensive evaluation - concept, need and importance.

(c) Education as an agent of social change.

(d) Grading system : Concept, need and advantages.

(e) Medium of instruction - impact on academic performance.

(f) In-service teacher education - need and importance.

4. Answer the following question in about  600 words :

Explain the need of "Vocationalisation of education". After discussion with parents, teachers and industrialists, you would have realized the problems, quality and status of vocationalisation. Prepare a report on it also suggest ways to strengthen vocationalisation of education.
