1. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

What are the main features of the communicative approach to language learning ? Explain your answer with illustrations.

Discuss the main objectives of teaching English in the context of India. Illustrate your answer with examples.

2. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

What is a cognitive style ? Which cognitive style is more relevant for developing communicative skills in English ?

OR

What is the difference between personality and attitude ? Discuss how attitudes towards the second language (English) influence the learning of the language.

3. Answer any four of the following questions in about 150 words each :

(a)  What are the tasks that can be set for a listening activity ?

(b)  How can a listening activity be integrated with other skills like speaking, writing or reading ? Give an example.

(c)   How can a picture composition be used for the development of speaking skills ?

(d)  What will be the features of a listening test that you will set for your secondary students ?

(e)  'Reading is not a general ability but involves a complex set of skills and mental processes, Elaborate.

(f)   What are study skills ? Mention three main study skills.

4. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

What are the aspects of writing that need to be tested at the secondary level ? Set up a writing task that you can use for assessing the writing skills of your students. Also devise a marking scheme for it.
