1. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
Do you think English should be taught to students in
India or not? Why? Discuss bringing out the status of English in Indian society
as well as in the formal education system. J

How will you differentiate between content-based teaching
and skill-based teaching in the context of English? Which one in your opinion
is better and why?
2. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
How will you lead your students towards efficient reading?
Discuss with suitable examples.
OR
What are the different types of writing? Take any one of
them and discuss how you will help you students in gaining proficiency in it.
3. Answer any five of the following questions in
about 120 words each:
(i)
Differentiate
between intensive and extensive reading.
(ii)
Discuss
the role of dictation as a listening exercise.
(iii)
Story
telling is the most ancient and compelling of human activities.' Discuss role of
storytelling in developing oral skills.
(iv)
How
will you correct errors in speech that occur in your students during oral
communication activities?
(v)
Distinguish
between ‘active vocabulary and 'passive vocabulary'. How will you help your
students to expand their active vocabulary?

There
is no place for formal grammar in language leaning. Do you agree? Give a
reasoned answer.

How
will you motivate students of English to win over poor environment?
(viii) Discuss the components of a method in
the context of English Language Teaching.
4. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
What are the essential components of a lesson plan? Choose
any appropriate poem that you are familiar with and develop a lesson plan.
