1. Answer the following question in

words
:
What is a lecture ? Discuss the
planning and delivery of a lecture with an example from secondary school social
studies curriculum.
OR
Explain the significance of
teaching social studies at the secondary school level. Discuss various approaches
to organising Social Studies Curriculum with examples.
2. Answer the following question
in about 600 words :
Mention briefly reform movements
and their impact during the British rule. Develop an
instructional strategy mentioning
specific instructional objectives, teaching-learning activities and evaluation
items to teach this topic.
OR
Explain the impact of human
activities on environmental degradation. Develop an
instructional strategy mentioning
specific instructional objectives, teaching-learning activities and evaluation
items to teach this topic.
3. Write short answers to any four of
the following questions in about 150
words each :
(a)
What
is Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) ? Discuss briefly different modes of CAI
with examples from Social Studies.
(b)
What
is a discussion session ? Mention the skills
a teacher of Social Studies can develop in the learners for effective
participation in a discussion session.
(c)
Differentiate
between a map and a globe.
(d)
Mention
guidelines for a teacher to use maps and globes effectively in teaching of Social
Studies.
(e)
What
is a unit plan ? Give an example of unit plan on any topic from Social Studies Curriculum
at the secondary level.
(f)
What
are the major physical divisions of India ? Construct four multiple-choice type
questions on this topic.Mention the instructional activities you would organised to teach the social infrastructure of Indian economy to your students.
(g)
What
methods and media you will use to explain the concept of national integration to
your students.
4. Answer the following question in
about 600 words.
Suppose you are asked by the
principal of the school to prepare a question paper on Social Studies for class
IX. Describe the steps of preparing the question paper.
