ES-341 : TEACHING OF SCIENCE

Time : 3 hours                                                                                     Maximum Weightage : 70%

Note :   (i) All the four questions are compulsory.

(ii) All the questions carry equal weightage.

1. Answer the following question in about 600 words.

Discuss the nature of science as a process and product with suitable examples.

OR

Explain the use, advantages and disadvantages of problem solving approach for teaching of science at secondary level.

2. Answer the following question in about 600 words.

Identify the main teaching points, formulate corresponding objectives in behavioral terms and explain the teaching-learning process that you will follow while teaching any one of the following topics at secondary level :

(a)  Image formation by spherical mirrors.

(b)  Chemical Equation.

3. Write short notes on any four of the following in about 150 words each :

(a)    Lecture method.

(b)   Science Laboratory - Planning and Importance.

(c)    Teaching of Mitosis.

(d)   Teaching of Deficiency diseases.

(e)    Teaching of Force.

(f)    Teaching of Electrovalent compounds.

4. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

What is meant by 'Blue Print' ? Select a topic in science at secondary level. Prepare a blue print

of the achievement test on this topic. Construct test items according to blue print covering all types of objectives i.e. knowledge, understanding, application and skills.
