ES-332: PSYCHOLOGY OF LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Note : (i) All four questions are compulsory.

(ii) All questions carry equal weightage.

1. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Explain the concept of cognitive development and factors facilitating its development.

OR

Home and school play a mutually reinforcing role in the development of child's personality. Discuss.

2. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

Define academic achievement. Examine the factors affecting children's academic achievement in elementary schools in rural and urban settings.

OR

What is maladjustment ? Discuss characteristics of maladjusted persons. What should a teacher do to help a maladjusted child in her/his class ?

3. Answer any four of the following questions in about 150 words each :

(a) What should teachers do to improve interpersonal communication among children ?

(b) Learning is goal directed and purposive. Discuss.

(c) Explain the concept of emotional maturity.

(d) How can teachers help children with visual impairment ? Explain.

(e) Explain the relationship between learning and maturation.

(f) Discuss special needs of gifted children.

4. Answer the following question in about 600 words :

You are a teacher in a secondary school and you have been asked to organised a seminar for the students of class X on the theme 'What after Class X ?'. Prepare a detailed plan for the organisation of the seminar describing its objectives, scope, content, strategy, etc.
