1. Answer the following question in
about 600 words :
Discuss the role of intuition and
logic in mathematical thinking. Give an example of drawing inference by analogy
and by patterns in mathematics.

Discuss laboratory approach to
teaching of mathematics. Illustrate with an example.
2. Answer the following question in
about 600 words :
Formulate objectives and select
learning experiences to teach any one of the following topics to secondary
school students.
(a) Solution of quadratic equations
(b) Parallel lines
3. Write short notes on any five of the following in about 120 words each :
(a) Contribution of ancient Indian mathematicians.
(b) Play way method of teaching
(c) Relation and function
(d) Teaching of basic concepts - point,
line and plane.
(e) Profit and loss.
(f) Volume of prisms
(g) Meaning of angles of elevation and
depression.
(h) Flow charts.
4. Answer the following question in
about 600 words :
Mention the purposes that a test can
serve. Make a test of ten objective type items on one topic that you have
taught at secondary level. Write down the important points you will consider in
assembling, administering, and scoring this test.
