1. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
English is both a second language as well as a library
language in India. Explain these terms and discuss the implications for
teachers of English.
OR
There is no one best approach for teaching of English but
a mix of different approaches. Do you agree? Discuss bringing out the best
features of the three major approaches to language teaching with suitable
example.
2. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
Listening and speaking are the two basic skills of language
that should come before reading and writing chronologically. Do you agree? Discuss
the role of the teacher in developing oral/ rural skills among the students
with examples of activities for the same.
OR
Reading and writing go together. Elaborate one plan for
developing two skills in your class bringing out the activities as well as resources
you will need to utilize.
3. Attempt any five
of the following questions in about 120
words:
(a) Distinguish between the behaviorist and the cognovits
view of language learning.
(b) Discuss the advantages of grammar games while
teaching grammar.
(c) What do you understand by efficient reading?
(d) Describe different kinds of listening materials that
can be used in the classroom.
(e) What are the various kinds of speaking activities
that can be used in the classroom? Discuss any one in detail.
(f) Discuss the salient features of the writing process.
(g) Distinguish between intensive and extensive reading.
(h) Describe the objectives of a reading program for your
class.
4. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
What is the importance of a lesson plan for an English teacher?
Discuss how you will teach vocabulary with the help of games?
