1.      SECTION-A is COMPULSORY consisting of TEN questions carrying TWO marks each.

2.      SECTION-B contains SIX questions carrying TEN marks each and students have to
attempt any FOUR questions.

  1.                                     Write Briefly:
(a)          What is soil erosion? Explain.
(b)         Name three common diseases of children that affect child welfare program.
(c)          Give adverse effects of acid rains on buildings and plants.
(d)         What is the 3 -R's concept of pollution abatement?
(e)          What is meant by Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)? What are the key elements of an EIA?
(f)          Define the term Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD).
(g)         How does the phenomenon of 'Eutrophication' occur?
(h)         What are nuclear holocaust and its impact on human beings?
(i)           Differentiate between biosphere and lithosphere.
(j)           What are the sources of air pollution?

  2.                                       Briefly discuss the problems of Family Welfare Program.
   3.                                        What is an earth quake? Enumerate its effects. What measures should be taken to mitigate this
disaster?
  4.                                                               List the problems involved in the disposal of solid wastes. What is the role of the informal
sector of municipal solid waste management?
   5.                                        What is an ecological pyramid? Explain its various types.
   6.                                                      What is Global Warming? Discuss its causes and effects. What measures should be taken to
check global warming?
   7.                                               What are 'Hot Spots of Biodiversity'? What are the main causes for the extinction of species?
Explain in situ and ex situ conservation of biodiversity.
