Note:- (1) Attempt one question from each Unit I, II, III, and IV, and question No. 9 is of Unit-V is compulsory.
(2) Attempt any nine questions out of thirteen in Unit-V.
(3) All questions carry equal marks.
UNIT-I
1. What do you know about the 'Notation System of Bhatkhande' ? Explain.
2. Define Rag and explain fully about the Jaties of Ragas.
UNIT-II
3. Define the following: Shruti, Saptak, Alankar.
4. Write a life sketch and contribution of Pt. Bhatkhande in the field of Indian Music.
UNIT-III
5. Explain the part of Tanpura with diagram. 6. Define Khayal and its types in detail.
UNIT-IV
7. Give a detailed description of Rag Alhiya Bilawal or Bhupali along with Aroha, Avroha and Pakad.
8. Write Ekgun and Dugun 'laykaries of Teental and Dadra with short description
OR
Write in notation of any Drut Khayal along with two tanas and short description from your syllabus.
UNIT-V
Attempt any nine questions:
(1) Define Swara in 20 words.
(2) Define Shruti.
(3) Thata of Rag Bhupali.
(4) Name Raga having Ni Komal Swara from your course.
(5) Write two Tanas in Rag Alhiya Bilawal.
(6) Signs of Komal, Tivra, Mandra and Taar Swaras in Bhatkhande Notation.
(7) Difference between Rag Alhiya Bilawal and Bhupali.
(8) Recognise the swaras and write Aroh-Avroha of the Raga :
(a) dha, Ni, dha, pa, ma
(b) Ga, Re, Ga, Pa.
(9) How many types of saptak are there?
(10) What is the difference between Vilambit and Drut Khayal ?
(11) Music is the combination of which two words?
(12) What is the meaning of Mandra Saptak ?
