Note:- Attempt five questions in all from all the three Units. Attempt three questions from Unit I and II, selecting at least one from each Unit. Unit III consists of two compulsory questions.
UNIT-I
I. Give historical development of North Indian Music from 13th to 17th Century.
II. Discuss the importance of Notation system of Indian Music.
III. How do you get Sahayak Nads from the strings of Tanpura to make it the important instrument of Indian music?
UNIT—II
IV. Give brief life sketch and detailed contribution of Ustad Amir Khan Sahib or Sardar Sohan Singh.
V. Explain any two the following:
(i) Tan and its varieties
(ii) Gamak
(iii) Bol Alap
VI. Write in notation Tal Rupak and Jhaptal in single and double layakaries along with the description.
UNIT-III

VII. Write in notation a Drut Khayal in Raga Bihag or BhÃmpalasi with two Alaps and two Tanas.
