Section-A 

1. Write a note on the title of the story "The Tell-Tale Heart'. Bring out its meaning and significance.

Or 

What impression do you form of the character of Hughie Erskine in story "The Model Millionaire'. 

2. How did Jawahar Lal Nehru like, as a child, the behaviour of English towards Indians as described in 'My Childhood? What light does B. K. Nehru throw on the role of John F. Kennedy as national and world leader? 

3. (a) Give a summary of the poem :

Lucy or on the morning of Christ's Nativity 

(b) Give short answers of any two of following questions: 

(i) What does the poet say about the nature of men in poem 'Sight No More, Ladies'? 

(ii) Give in your words, Central idea of poem ‘When I Consider Life. 

(iii) What did Lord Ullin see on reaching then shore?

(c) Explain with reference to the context:

No war or battle's sound 

Was heard the world around 

The idle spear and shield were high uphung, 

The hooked chariotstood

Unstained with hostile blood.

Or

4. Change the form of any five of following words as instructed and use the changed form in sentences of your own: 

Happy (adverb), Beauty (Adjective), Tell (noun), Examination (verb), Retirement (verb), know (noun), Gold (adjective), Direct (adverb).

5. Use any five of the following words/Idioms in sentences: Manual, Trifles, Fluently, Endeavour, Nightmare, Above all, Tears and tatters, Apology.

6. Translate the following passage into English:

स्वास्थ्य एक बड़ा वरदान है। परन्तु जब तक मनुष्य निरोग रहता है वह इस बरकत की कद्र नहीं करता। जब कोई मामूली सा रोग उसको घेर लेता है तो वह उसके महत्त्व को अनुभव करता है। अगर आपकी सेहत अच्छी है तो आप खाने-पीने, चलने और काम करने का आनन्द उठा सकते हो। जो लोग रोगी रहते हैं उनका जीवन उनके लिए एक मुसीबत बन जाता है।

Punjabi Version 

ਸਿਹਤ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੋਗ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਉਹ ਇਸ ਬਰਕਤ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਮੂਲੀ ਜਿਹਾ ਰੋਗ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾੜੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਚੱਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਰੋਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
