B.A. - B.Sc. (General) 1st Semester Examination
Public Administration
Paper: Administrative Theory
Time: 3 Hours] [Max. Marks: 90
Note:- (i) The paper will be of 90 marks and 10 marks will be an internal assessment.
(ii) There are nine questions in all. The first question is compulsory containing 12 short answer type questions. The candidate is required to attempt nine questions in about 25 to 30 words. Each question shall be of 2 marks each. Rest of the paper is divided into IV Units each Unit has two questions and the candidate shall attempt one question from each Unit. Each question shall carries 18 marks each.

(iv) Write four lines on relationship of Public Administration to Political Science.

Public Administration as a Social Science.
(vi) Define Organization.
(vii) What is Hierarchy?
(viii) Give two features of Government Company.
(ix) What are Line Agencies?
(x) Give two merits of Centralization.
(xi) Define Coordination.
(xii) Give two methods of Supervision.

3. Describe the similarities and differences between Public Administration and Private Administration.
Unit-II
4. Define Organization. Discuss the differences between Formal and Informal Organization.
5. Define a Public Corporation? Discuss the features, merits and demerits of a Public Corporation.
Unit-III
6. Discuss the meaning, types of functions of a Chief Executive.
7. Discuss the meaning, merits and demerits of Decentralization.
Unit-IV
8. Define Communication. Discuss the types, methods and barriers of Communication.
9. Discuss the meaning, styles and functions of Leadership in an organization.
